Unfortunately this was entirely predictable. Not blaming him, you’d have to have worked on the inside to understand that this company is not committed to anything, a pure extension of it’s sociopathic founder’s games of civilisation where everything and everyone only exist for one purpose - to feed whatever his current “play” is to amass power.
There’s no partnership that’s sacred, during my time at the company it connected millions of unbanked to financial systems only to strand them overnight back in analog land, kicked off massive projects with telcos only to walk away when they didn’t fit into a PSC cycle, convinced game companies to pivot their business “where their customers are” only to abandon the product overnight because a VP on messenger lost some internal power struggle with another and pulled journalistic ventures with a mission of protecting information integrity with subsidies onto the platform only to feed their audiences to breitbart when it became clear that the political winds had shifted.
That business, by the way, was called Partnerships and that’s how the company dealt with “preferred partners”. Everyone else… lol, thoughts and prayers.
The best historic analogy here is colonial forces landing on distant shores, bedazzling the natives with AI baubles and comfy disease pox blankets while robbing them of their customers, data and attention.
