Is AI upending the customer development/discovery process ?
The usual CD process is to basically ask customers what they want, then build it. It's a bit more involved and I recommend books by Steve Blank, Adam Frankl, Cindy Alvarez, Rob fitzpatrick , Eric Ries, etc.
But I recently found an interesting exception / hidden requirement, which we're seeing in the AI tools market - custdev assumes you have enough wallclock time to survey 100+ prospects and build/release a product, before it becomes obsolete and/or the market saturated.
Subtly, classic custdev also assumes that building product is slow and expensive, and AI is breaking that too - it's now cheap to whip up a prototype over the weekend and show it to people.
Do we need a new custdev process for the AI era ?
