Technology plays a crucial role in tackling the major challenges facing healthcare globally. That’s why we invest around two billion euros in research and development every year and closely collaborate with top-level scientists and institutions around the world. With our commitment to science and innovation, we are the first choice for medical specialists with particular strengths in areas such as radiology, oncology, or cardiology. We provide them with the tools and support they need to deliver exceptional care. But when we talk about the requirements of entire healthcare systems, their C-level executives demand more than tools: they seek a genuine partner who can support them in optimizing care pathways, addressing staff shortages, creating economies of scale, and expanding access to care. Within #TeamHealthineers, our Enterprise Services are doing this “magic”: leveraging the strengths of our company to develop tailored customer partnerships, which we call Value Partnerships. Thus, we have continuously developed from a partner on a department level to a partner for the C-level of large healthcare organizations. Now, more than 220 major customers have allied with us for the long run. Those are not just “large deals”, but long-term, close, and very trusting partnerships at eye level. 2025 alone brought in orders with a cumulative term of 360 years. Today, I met my colleague João Seabra and the Enterprise Services team in New York, USA to address the challenges our customers face around the world in the pursuit of efficiency, clinical excellence, and improved access to healthcare. Focusing on the four major non-communicable diseases – neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases, stroke, and cancer, we will elevate healthcare globally. Thanks to João and team for the exciting discussion!

About one in two people fear Alzheimer's disease. Not just because of what it does to memory, but because of what it takes away from people and those around them. It takes independence, identity, and time. For a long time, it felt like something we could only diagnose late and manage, but not truly change. That is beginning to shift.    In this article, I explore why understanding the brain remains one of medicine’s greatest challenges, how multimodal diagnostics (from blood‑based biomarkers to advanced imaging) are reshaping the pathway to diagnosis and treatment, and what this means for patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems alike. I also touch on a critical system‑level challenge: how can neurology and radiology evolve together to make early diagnosis and monitoring sustainable at scale?   Alzheimer’s remains one of the most complex challenges in medicine. But for the first time in a long time, there is a sense that we are not just observing the disease, we are beginning to influence its course.    Check out the deep dive. ⬇️   ------- 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, #𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘯-𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 75% 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥𝘸𝘪𝘥𝘦: 𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴, 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳. Stopping the decline starts with seeing it: How technology can help us save brains from Alzheimer's.

I say this often: The magic of „Medtech“ is bringing two worlds together – the world of medicine and the world of technology – and creating the dialogue between what patient care needs most and what technology can make possible. Healthcare is a team sport, and the collaboration among our engineers, physicists, leading research institutions and academic medical centers worldwide is at the heart of our strategy. There is literally no innovation in our portfolio that was not inspired or significantly influenced by this dialogue. Today, along with Renate Jerecic, PhD, it was a pleasure to welcome 160 of our collaboration managers and officers from 26 countries to our International Healthcare Collaboration Conference here in Erlangen, Germany. With user-centricity at top of mind, these colleagues and their teams work most closely with our customers and partners, combining local and global insights to develop meaningful solutions that improve patient care and outcomes. That focus is particularly important as we step more boldly in the fight against non-communicable diseases such as cancer, stroke, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. These conditions continue to place an enormous burden on health systems and societies worldwide. Addressing them requires deep clinical understanding, broader access to innovations, and ongoing collaborations among all players in healthcare. Thank you to our many collaboration experts on #TeamHealthineers for the critical work you do to build trust, bring together many diverse perspectives, and help turn our ambitions into real-life solutions. I wish you all a productive and inspiring conference and look forward to the ideas and momentum that will come out of it.

If you or a loved one has ever needed an imaging scan in Germany or the Nordics, chances are it was performed at an Evidia center. Evidia is a frontrunner in a topic that I find extremely important for the future of healthcare in general and diagnosis in particular: How to improve efficiency AND quality of radiology by using scale and introducing best practices, novel technologies, and a system of continuous improvement across many sites. Our relationship with Evidia spans many years. Therefore, it was great to connect with Evidia Germany CEO Selma Heinrich-Oppermann, CFO Alexander Beck, and Chief Medical Officer PD. Dr. med. Peter Dankerl to explore how we can work – and innovate – together to achieve shared goals. These include optimizing clinical workflows and efficiencies, scaling services, and integrating healthcare AI to improve outcomes and the overall patient experience. I left Evidia with a long list of ideas and follow-ups. That‘s how it should be. ;-) Thank you very much, Selma, for the motivating and inspiring discussion and the trust you and your team continue to place in Siemens Healthineers.

Yesterday in Milan, we signed a memorandum of understanding with President Dr. Kamel Ghribi of Gruppo GKSD and Gruppo San Donato. This special occasion builds on a long-standing relationship grounded in mutual respect and a shared ambition to scale healthcare in more parts of the world. Together, GSKD, GSD, and Siemens Healthineers plan to advance healthcare projects across Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Our collaboration aims to span training and workforce development, remote scanning, AI-driven tools, and software solutions, alongside a broader Value Partnership framework covering tele-reporting, imaging optimization, and AI-enabled services. This partnership is a strong example of how #TeamHealthineers works side by side with leading healthcare providers to unlock synergies and pioneer breakthroughs in healthcare – for everyone, everywhere, sustainably. Collaborating with a major clinical leader that shares our commitment to strengthening health systems and raising standards of care for entire populations is both a privilege and a responsibility. Thank you, Dr. Ghribi and your teams, for the continued trust.

One can sense the future of healthcare coming alive in Essen, Germany. There, at the IKIM - Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Prof. Dr. Michael Forsting and his colleagues from the AI Research Department are taking ambitious steps towards the next level of patient care and precision medicine.   Today, I heard firsthand about how they apply transformative AI, data integration and interoperability across the entire university hospital to advance information technology using their roots in radiology, nuclear medicine, cardiology, and pathology as a strong basis to operate from. What stood out for me: a unique combination of scientific thinking and being super pragmatic, of having big ambitions while staying curious and agile. We at Siemens Healthineers are excited to support the groundbreaking work at IKIM – and to get inspired by the team. This partnership complements the long-time collaboration we have with the Universitätsmedizin Essen, Germany’s leading hospital for digitalized medicine and of which IKM is a part. Thank you to the entire team for your warm welcome and insights – and the open discussion. Of course, no visit to Essen would be complete without spending some time with our local #TeamHealthineers. I appreciated the conversation over pizza on what’s high on our global agenda and all the great work you are doing locally to serve our customers.

We have enjoyed a decades-long partnership with Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, one of the ten best hospitals in the world. Recently, we expanded our close collaboration to include an important new area: preventive medicine. Charité and #TeamHealthineers are working together to take preventive medicine – and access to it – to a new level. To this end, we are not only conducting joint research but also want to put science and innovation into clinical practice as quickly as possible. We are starting with cardiology because cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death – both in Germany and countries across the world. It was therefore a very special honor and pleasure for me to welcome Prof. Dr. Heyo K. Kroemer, CEO of Charité Berlin, to our latest SHIFT Innovation Talk. In this talk series, we connect people across businesses, specialties, and borders to share knowledge on strategically important topics: We bring ideas together, learn from each other, and accelerate healthcare innovation. Prof. Kroemer gave us fascinating insights into the current state of preventive medicine at Charité and how we can work together to advance it further. In general: Preventive medicine must become one of the main pillars of our healthcare system to address the growing shortage of healthcare professionals on the one hand, and the increasing burden of disease in aging societies on the other. Many thanks to Prof. Kroemer for his valuable insights, and to my colleague Amira ROMANI for facilitating the discussion.

Our research center in Princeton has become a magnet for healthcare AI expertise. Every time I catch up with Dorin Comaniciu and the team there, conversations quickly move from what’s possible to what really matters in healthcare delivery. Take for instance, our work on what we call the Operational Twin, an advisory service. It starts with creating a virtual representation of a clinical department, reflecting how patients, staff, and equipment interact in everyday operations so that different scenarios can be explored more safely and at scale. By simulating billions of scenarios representing dynamic conditions, AI agents learn how operational decisions shape outcomes. They can begin to anticipate bottlenecks and understand the long-term impact of short-term choices. The goal is more efficient planning of patient schedules, staffing, and equipment use, aligning daily decisions with broader clinical and organizational priorities. This becomes even more relevant as clinical innovations accelerate workflows. Faster scanning technologies such as Deep Resolve can shorten patient timeslots and an Operational Twin can help organizations adapt by optimizing schedules and resources to fully realize gains in speed and throughput. At its core, this work is about creating clarity in complex systems so that action becomes more precise and more purposeful. We see a similar principle in clinical innovation. With photon counting CT, we can visualize the heart in extraordinary detail, including structures inside the left ventricle that were previously difficult to see clearly. That deeper insight is captured by a Foundation Model that could help physicians guide ablation therapies with greater precision and confidence, especially when combined with live ultrasound to support real-time decision making in the procedure room. In both cases, whether in clinical imaging or in operations, the ambition is the same: better insight leading to better decisions at the moments that matter most for patients.
