Do you know those moments when you pause and think, “What if?” I had one of those moments this morning. Putting on a pair of augmented reality (AR) glasses, I suddenly stepped into a different world.
This immersive experience really makes technology tangible. Placing the viewer directly into clinical workflows illustrates how the combination of AI and AR can help healthcare systems work better as a whole – enabling smarter decisions, more efficient processes, and giving healthcare professionals more time with patients.
Beyond the wow factor, it sparked a deeper reflection and brought me back to a few thoughts I shared earlier this year. We are standing at a real turning point for AI. Innovation is not about the technology itself, but about the questions it enables us to ask, and the decisions it helps us make better. Experiences like this show that the shift in healthcare is already underway, not someday, but sooner than we might expect.
A big thank you to #TeamHealthineers, both on-site and behind the scenes, for making this #ECR2026 such a great event. It was great to see you all in Vienna!
