I’ve personally had people say things like “Do you have mum brain today?” Or “Are you sure you can handle that role now you’re a Mum?” It’s often said as a joke, but the truth is, it can feel dismissive. Motherhood doesn’t take away our intelligence, ambition, or ability to thrive in our careers. For me, becoming a mum has made me more resilient, more adaptable, and more driven. But it hasn’t made me less capable. Motherhood is part of who we are, but it doesn’t define us and it certainly doesn’t limit us. I will continue to advocate for working mums, to challenge outdated stereotypes, and to help create workplaces and communities where women are valued for their skills, experience, and perspective, mother or not.

A year ago, I was 4 months postpartum, trying to figure out how to feel like myself again and craving connection. I was nervous about the transition back to work with two children, and unsure how I could find a space that felt like me. Today, I’m amazed at how far The Mum Connection Tasmania has come. What started as a small idea to bring mums together has grown into a thriving, supportive community, supporting women personally and professionally. I can’t wait to celebrate everything we’ve built at our fundraiser, and to raise a glass on 26th November, our official birthday! 🥂 From feeling lost to feeling surrounded by a village, this journey has been nothing short of magical. ✨✨
