✨ One year ago today, The Art of Small Business Social Media officially made its way into the world! ✨ I still remember holding that first copy in my hands—equal parts nerves, joy, and disbelief. Writing this book was such a labor of love: countless cups of tea, early mornings, late nights, and the hope that it would help small business owners feel confident, creative, and capable in their marketing. To everyone who’s read it, shared it, taught from it, or left a kind review—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your messages, photos, and stories mean more than you know. Seeing this little pink book out in the world helping people build their dreams? That’s the real success. Here’s to year two of connection, creativity, and community. 💖 If you’ve read it (or it’s on your TBR), I’d love to hear what you’ve learned or how it’s helped your business grow! #smallbusiness #marketing #authorlife

The Pinterest Predicts 2026 report says people are turning away from trends, favoring nonconformity, self-preservation, and escapism. It predicts twenty-one major 2026 trends centered on comfort, personal authenticity, and imaginative escape: think cozy textures, nostalgic throwback fashion, analog hobbies like snail mail, bold self-expression, and interior styling that leans into mood and emotion. It’s a reminder that the coming year might be less about fitting in — and more about creating your own vibe.

⚠️ PSA for creators and brands If you get an email claiming to be from me at Skillshare Creators — it’s NOT me. Someone is using my name and photo in an email scam. I do teach classes on Skillshare, but I don’t work for them and I don’t handle partnerships or creator outreach. If you see anything suspicious, please don’t reply or share your info — report it to Skillshare’s support team instead. Stay safe out there, friends. 💻✨ #Skillshare #ScamAlert #OnlineSafety #Creators #PSA

Let's be real: Self-care isn't a luxury - it's a non-negotiable part of running a sustainable business. Your most valuable business asset? YOU 💫 Here's how I prioritize self-care (and you should too): 📅 Schedule it like a VIP meeting 🧘‍♀️ Take regular breaks (yes, even mid-day) 🛑 Set firm boundaries 💪 Move your body 😴 Prioritize sleep 🥗 Fuel your body well 📱 Unplug regularly 🧴My skincare routine is part of my daily self-care. 🎨 Keep your hobbies Remember: Quality over quantity. Small, consistent acts of self-care create massive impact.

Have you ever noticed how the most memorable brands make you feel like you're catching up with an old friend? Brand consistency isn't just about using the same logo or colors - it's the foundation of building trust with your audience. When your message, visuals, and voice remain steady across all platforms, you're creating a reliable presence that customers can count on. I've seen small businesses transform their marketing impact simply by maintaining consistency in their brand elements. From social media posts to email newsletters, every touchpoint matters. Here's what makes the difference: • Visual elements that align across platforms • Messaging that stays true to your values • Your unique voice, used consistently • Regular, predictable content delivery Remember: Trust isn't built overnight - it's cultivated through consistent, authentic interactions over time. So start small, stay consistent, and watch as your audience grows to recognize, trust, and choose your brand again and again.

I came across this piece from Psychology Today, and it really landed. We are not in a pandemic moment, but the constant news cycle, cultural noise, and always-on commentary can feel just as overwhelming. Staying calm right now is not about ignoring reality. It is about choosing how much of it we let run our nervous system. This article is a good reminder that calm is a practice. Paying attention to what we consume, where we place our focus, and how we respond instead of react matters more than ever. Friendly reminder to step away from the noise, go see the sky, and come back a little steadier. (article in comments)

Quick heads up for anyone cleaning up their apps right now 👀 If you’re deleting TikTok for privacy or data reasons, don’t forget about CapCut. CapCut is owned by the same parent company as TikTok, so the data ecosystems are connected. Totally your call what you keep or remove, but it helps to know what lives under the same umbrella so you can make informed choices. If you’re looking for an alternative, Canva is a popular option for short-form video editing without the TikTok tie-in. Digital decluttering works best when it’s intentional ✨

The rules for raises are changing — and fast. For years, we were told that hard work + high performance = higher pay. But with nearly half of employers moving to across‑the‑board “peanut butter” raises, the landscape looks very different. Instead of rewarding merit, many companies are opting for uniform increases — a move that promises fairness and stability but also raises important questions about motivation, equity, and the future of career growth. This deep dive breaks it all down: What “peanut butter” raises really are: 🥜 Why companies are shifting to this model 🥜 The pros and the real downsides 🥜 And what employees can do to stay in control of their careers A fascinating read if you care about workplace trends, compensation, or your long‑term career trajectory. Would you welcome a flat raise — or do you prefer performance‑based pay?

LinkedIn is quietly changing the game. Instead of relying on past engagement, the platform is starting to understand what your content actually means and who needs to see it right now. That’s a big deal. We’re moving from: what worked before → what’s relevant now If this rollout delivers, it could reward: • clear thinking • strong positioning • real expertise and not just recycled formats. For anyone creating content in a specific niche or industry, this is your moment to lean into depth over trends. Less guessing. More meaning. And honestly, I’m here for it.

I’ve been thinking about that statistic a lot lately—how only 3% of aspiring writers actually finish their novels. It’s not about talent or even having the perfect story idea. It’s about showing up, day after day, even when the words feel heavy. I used to be the person who started with a burst of energy, wrote furiously for a couple of weeks, then let the file sit untouched on my hard drive because other priorities popped up. The shift came when I stopped waiting for inspiration and treated writing like a real commitment. Even while working a full 9–5, I carve out writing time, set word count goals I can actually hit, and celebrate the small wins along the way. Because finishing a novel isn’t about writing the perfect first draft—it’s about persistence and believing your story deserves to be told. What’s holding you back from being part of that 3%? Maybe it’s time to open that document, dust off that outline, and start typing your way to “The End.”

Main character energy, but make it low-pressure. I love this take on “side quests” — those tiny, spontaneous detours that make life feel a little less rinse-and-repeat and a lot more fun. Because not everything has to be productive or optimized. Sometimes it’s just… take a different route, try the random coffee shop, say yes to the slightly weird plan. Saving this as my official permission slip to romanticize the small moments again.

ThredUp teamed up with Pinterest, and I’m obsessed with how easy this makes secondhand shopping. You can finally shop the outfits you’ve been pinning right on ThredUp. If you’ve been saving looks for months (same), this is such a fun way to bring those boards to life with pre-loved, affordable pieces that are better for the planet. I love finding secondhand treasures, and this makes it SO simple to recreate the styles I’ve been eyeing. Time to shop your own boards and turn your fave pins into real outfits. Tap in and let me know what you score.

"The Postal Service plans to impose a temporary 8 percent surcharge on packages to offset rising fuel and transportation costs that have further strained the agency’s dire finances. The price increase comes amid a spike in fuel prices since the war in Iran began nearly four weeks ago. The surcharge, which will not be applied to mail prices, is slated to take effect on April 26 and end on Jan. 17, 2027."

Swifties, we did it again. Taylor wears a vintage Monterey Bay Aquarium tee in her album release movie, and suddenly, the internet turns into a full-blown fundraising mission for sea otters. 🦦💅 Fans hunted down the exact shirt, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium revived it from the archives. Swifties even flooded the aquarium with $13 donations — because of course they did. 💸✨ Read the wholesome madness here:

Threads is rolling out something new that taps right into the Dear Algo trend. If you add the phrase "Dear Algo" to a post, it tells the platform what you want to see more or less of over the next three days. A little personalized feed magic. If your profile is public, others can see these notes and even connect with or repost them, which adds a fun layer of community discovery. Feels like another step toward giving us more say in what shows up in our feeds and how we shape our own recommendation experience.

“Management plans to lay off six of our members, most of whom are BIPOC women or trans, including Teen Vogue’s Politics Editor — continuing the trend of layoffs at Condé disproportionately impacting marginalized employees,” the organizations stated. They added, “Teen Vogue now has no writers or editors explicitly covering politics.” The editor-in-chief is also gone. Teen Vogue was excelling in its political reporting, and its voice will be missed.

Think: bookstore browsing, wandering a museum, sketching in a café, or even exploring a pumpkin patch. I loved seeing these cozy fall solo date ideas (pumpkin patches, coffee shops, spooky movies!) and realizing how perfectly they align with Cameron’s advice: it’s not about productivity, it’s about play and inspiration. AI Search is changing how people discover and choose local businesses. Catch Jeff Sieh live today to learn more about it! Heads up: if you mail tax documents or year-end donations, a small change in how postmarks are handled could affect whether they count on time. Ask for a manual postmark. Customers who want a postmark dated when the Postal Service first accepted possession of their mailpiece may, for no extra charge, request a manual postmark at any Post Office, station, or branch. Since a manual postmark is stamped upon acceptance at the retail counter, the date on that postmark lines up with the date on which the USPS first accepted possession.
