I’ve had a lot of friends ask recently: What exactly is Davos, and why is it such a big deal? Davos is a small alpine town in eastern Switzerland, tucked into the Graubünden mountains. On a normal day, it has a population of just around 11,000 people. Once a year, that quiet mountain town becomes the center of the global conversation. Each January, the World Economic Forum (WEF) hosts its Annual Meeting there, bringing together nearly 3,000 leaders from more than 130 countries. Heads of state, global CEOs, scientists, technologists, investors, academics, and leaders from civil society gather to discuss the forces shaping our world: geopolitics, the global economy, climate, health, and now, very centrally, artificial intelligence. Here is something many people don’t realize: you don’t just go to Davos. Typically, you must be invited by the World Economic Forum. Others attend through very specific, curated paths: as part of an official country delegation, or through invitation-only “houses” hosted by governments, global organizations, or major companies running programming during the week. Even then, access is intentional. You are there because someone believes your work and perspective belong in the conversation. This year’s summit brings together an extraordinary group of leaders. Technology and AI leaders expected include: • Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA • Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft • Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind • Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic • Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir Heads of state and global institutional leaders include: Presidents, prime ministers, and ministers from the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Argentina, Indonesia, Singapore, Israel, Ukraine, and others Leaders from the United Nations, European Commission, IMF, World Bank, WHO, and WTO Cultural and creative leaders also attend, bridging technology, influence, and society. For me, this moment is deeply personal. Speaking at Davos has been on my vision board for five years. Not as a symbol of prestige, but as a milestone that represented something bigger: that the work mattered, that the ideas were ready, and that the conversations I care deeply about had a place on a global stage. I am here to speak on Agentic AI: systems that can reason, decide, and act with increasing autonomy. The implications for business, healthcare, governance, and human productivity are profound. This year, there is a real expectation that leaders move beyond theory and into responsibility: how these systems are designed, governed, and deployed in the real world. Five years ago, this was just a quiet vision I held onto. Not for recognition, but for impact. Today, standing in this moment, I am reminded that the long road, the unseen work, and the persistence matter. If there is one takeaway, it is this: keep honoring the vision before the world can see it. Rooms like this are entered long before you ever walk through the door. #susansly #davos2026

Hanging out with Black Eyed Peas cofounder, APl who is using AI to optimize agriculture in his home country of The Philippines. We had the privilege of hosting APL at Modev Agentic AI House here in Davos. We will be hosting a fireside chat with Will.I.Am on Wednesday. My takeaway from this session was a man with a vision and a huge heart using AI for good. #susansly #agenticai #womeninai #agenticaihouse #davos2026 #wef2026

What a phenomenal evening. This year’s HonorHealth Ball was an opportunity to showcase innovation, catch-up with friends, and take a spin on the dance floor. Mia Chorney, Megan Stuff, Melissa Lamson, Claudia Whitehead, and I kept Ken Honeycutt entertained with our ‘epic dance moves.’ John Shufeldt, MD, JD, MBA, FACEP wisely was not part of the shenanigans.

Ami Bhatt, MD and I modeled Davos Puffer Coat Chic at an intimate gathering of thought leaders in women’s health. The takeaway from the conversation is that data silos, lack of funding, and the decreasing priority for women’s health remain strong headwinds for significant progress. Packing for Davos feels like a masterclass in logistics, mindset, and faith in the process. ✔️ Winter boots on my feet ✔️ Dress shoes in a tote bag (because glamour waits until indoors) ✔️ Calendar filling up faster than my suitcase Somewhere between layering thermals and scheduling meetings, there’s a reminder: You don’t need to have it all figured out—just keep moving forward and trust the process. Sandy Carter - thank you for being my Davos spirit animal. Peter Erickson - you are NOT helpful in making packing recommendations. 😂 Mellini Davos AGENTIC AI House - girl, I've got you sister! How did this happen? Last night, I had the privilege of getting a first look at the entire M Factor 2.0 - Before The Pause Film. I honestly didn’t know if I would have more than a one-line sound bite. In the film, expert practitioners, patients, and women like myself highlight how vast the challenges with perimenopause and menopause are. 80 percent of women are symptomatic and lifestyle interventions, which is what we are building at The Pause Technologies Inc. are the number one way to ameliorate symptoms as not all women qualify, or can afford, HRT. Although I am in awe that I am in this film, I am beyond grateful to be appreciated and respected for my decades in health and technology. Here is another sneak peek from the M Factor 2.0 - Before The Pause. In this clip, I discuss how many wearables were standardized on white skin and also on men. Naturally, this creates bias in the data. Our team at The Pause Technologies Inc. is grateful to have our product in the film as an example of technology done right in women’s health. We are hosting an invitation only screening here in Phoenix with HonorHealth , Arizona State University - Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation and City of Phoenix. Our full sponsor list will be posted soon. Our screening will be at The Phoenix Art Museum on February 24th. Lastly, I want to acknowledge our friends and partners at WHOOP and specifically my Davos bound colleague, Emily Capodilupo for a commitment to research, building equitable algorithms, and hosting a private screening in Boston on February 04th. The word of the day at Davos is ‘badassery.’ Renée Cummings, Janna Salokangas, Sol Rashidi, MBA, and I took the stage for a talk titled by my friend and brother from another mother, Peter Erickson entitled ‘The Future of AI is Female.’ One takeaway from our session is that, as women who have deployed AI, speak on AI, and live AI, is that we all carve out time weekly to stay updated on true AI applications versus noise and hype. Women and the AI Future We Are Building This year's #CES2026 was the usual snapshot of where the industry is headed and who is shaping that future. AI dominated every conversation — from compute infrastructure and optimization to real-world ROI and the ethics of data. But even as innovation accelerates, persistent gaps in representation and design are emerging as the most consequential challenges we face. I had the privilege of hosting a high-level panel at Modev AI House on CPU optimization and the real cost of “over-architecting” AI systems alongside exceptional leaders from AMD, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Machani Robotics. We dove into how responsible architecture unlocks true value for enterprise AI. I also delivered a short keynote on one of the most overlooked intersections in tech: data disparities in women’s health. Too many predictive models are built without representative data, leading to real-world impact that disproportionately affects women. I closed by sharing the official trailer for The M Factor 2.0 – Before The Pause, a powerful continuation of the conversation around menopause, data equity, and technology’s role in shaping health outcomes. And because visibility matters, I was honored to participate in the The Female Quotient Women Walk the Floor, celebrating women leaders who are driving innovation at CES. The CES opening keynote was delivered by Lisa Su who summed up part of the moment perfectly: “AI is the most important technology of the last 50 years… and most importantly, AI is for everyone.” Yet as she also acknowledged, “We don’t have nearly enough compute for all the things we want to do with AI.” That gap is not just technical — it’s human. If you’re interested in why women’s leadership in AI and technology matters now more than ever, and how ethical, responsible AI design is foundational to the future of innovation, read the full article here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gUJyDzMD #AI #EthicalAI #WomenInTech #Leadership #DataEquity #AIInfrastructure #SusanSly #womeninai #thefemalequotient #thepausetechnologies

Ladies, As you know, I have absolutely zero issue with being raw and real on LinkedIn and other platforms. Sharing only our career highs is not only surface, it is a complete disservice to women who suffer alone. Last year, I had a breast cancer scare and this is my PSA. Thankfully, I had been using our app and noticed that certain symptoms, and my mood, had been consistently impactful to my day to day life. That was the catalyst to schedule health tests including a full body MRI. Because of this, I also got out in front of other potential health issues. At The Pause Technologies Inc. - one of our key features is symptom tracking for perimenopause and menopause. Women do not just wake up one day with illness, it is the ‘little things’ we push to the side that eventually become big things that we are forced to deal with. Mia Chorney sees patients every day who ignored, or dismissed, their symptoms until they were in a crisis. Get our app, start tracking, and prioritize your health. 15 seconds per day of tracking could save your life. Get the App or Play Store link at www.thePause.ai #susansly #thepausetechnologies #womenshealth #digitalhealth #menopause #perimenopasue

Davos was a reminder that trust is becoming the most strategic asset in AI. As AI systems move from recommendation to agency, leaders are asking a harder question: not whether AI works, but whether it deserves to act. In one of my talks at Davos, I also addressed the women’s health data gap and why we cannot rely on existing datasets to build reliable models. Data gaps are not a DEI issue. They are a safety issue. One highlight was cohosting the Unstoppable Women in Web3 and AI breakfast with Sandy Carter and Emily Capodilupo of WHOOP, where we discussed why collaboration, not competition, is essential if we want better health outcomes and better AI. WHOOP is making incredible impact in women's health and The Pause Technologies Inc., we are grateful to be working on how we can align to create meaningful recommendations to support women in perimenopause and menopause. Trust in AI will be earned through design choices, governance, and what we choose to measure. I shared my perspective of the theme of trust at Davos in my latest blog if you would like to read more. #AgenticAI #TrustInAI #Davos #AIKeynoteSpeaker #AIEthics #WomensHealth #SusanSly #AIFounder #ThePauseTechnologies #SandyCarter #EmilyCapodilupo #WHOOP #Davos2026

This Moment Was Pure Joy Today, I went for a walk along the ocean in Hermosa Beach and encountered this lovely gentleman singing his heart out. If 2025, and a few more weeks, have been The Year of The Snake. It has been about shedding what no longer serves us and running into the Year of The Horse where our hard work and efforts make manifest. Last year, I was asked to speak on AI, AI Ethics, and Data Disparities in Women's Health in the new M Factor 2.0 - Before the Pause. As a result of that effort, I am honored to say that not only is this film to be launched at private screenings, including one we are co-hosting in Phoenix, it will be in wide release on PBS. Not only am I in the film, our company The Pause Technologies Inc. is also mentioned. We did not pay for this honor - we earned it. My friends, please know that if last year felt like an uphill battle, and you continued to take action toward building your company and your career, your results are coming. As it is already Lunar New Year in over half of the world, I say - let's be done with the Year of the Snake! The Year of the Snake is associated with shedding old, toxic, unsupportive relationships, businesses, careers, homes...basically anything that does not serve us. The Year of the Fire Horse is associated with accelerated success IF we have shed what was necessary to our growth. I spent last year taking apart removing every aspect of my life that didn't serve our company The Pause Technologies Inc., personal and professional relationships, unsupportive behaviors, and anything that did not align for the vision I have. A clip from one of my talks at Davos Modev Agentic AI House One of the biggest challenges we face in building AI models for women’s health is data disparity—and more specifically, biased reference data. In this example, a generative model defaulted to an image of a young, conventionally “fit” woman with exaggerated sexualized features. This was not prompted. It was inferred. Why does this happen? Because large multimodal models like GPT-5.2 are trained on vast, internet-scale datasets where: • Women’s bodies are overrepresented through a male-gaze lens • Fitness, health, and attractiveness are routinely conflated • Youth, thinness, and large breasts are disproportionately labeled as “default” or “ideal” • Midlife women—especially perimenopausal and menopausal women—are statistically underrepresented or misrepresented The model is not “choosing” this output. It is optimizing for probability based on its reference data. And that is the fault line. If the training data encodes a narrow, sexualized archetype of what a “healthy woman” looks like, the model will reproduce it—at scale, with confidence, and without context. This matters deeply in women’s health. When AI systems visually and conceptually erase: • Women over 40 • Perimenopausal bodies • Diverse shapes, hormone states, and lived realities they reinforce the very gaps we are trying to close in medicine, research, and care delivery. As an AI ethicist, founder, and speaker, this is exactly why I continue to raise these issues—on global stages like Davos and in projects like @themfactorfilm’s Beyond The Pause, which focuses on perimenopause. AI does not just reflect society. It amplifies what it is trained on. If we want better outcomes for women, we must demand: • Better datasets • Better labeling • Better representation • And accountability in how “defaults” are defined If you are a woman, I would love to hear your reaction to this example. Please share your thoughts in the comments—and if this resonates, I would appreciate you sharing it. #AIethics #WomenInAI #WomensHealth #Perimenopause #DataBias #ResponsibleAI #Davos2026 #WEF2026 #CEOwomen #SusanSly

I was exhausted when I finally sat down to watch the Super Bowl tonight. After speaking at Davos on AI, attending a screening of The M Factor 2.0 in Boston (where I speak about AI ethics), and keynoting for Isagenix, I made homemade enchiladas for my family and curled up on the sofa, ready for what I expected to be a showdown of AI company ads. What surprised me wasn’t who “won.” It was how disappointing many of the AI ads were. So much of what we saw leaned into automation, abstraction, or novelty for novelty’s sake. In contrast, the ads that resonated most didn’t glorify AI at all, they centered real humans, real emotions, and real connection. As an AI ethicist, I found myself cheering for: Ring’s focus on finding lost pets and community through its Search Party feature, ads that treated AI as a supporting tool, not the main character, and moments where humanity, not technology, was the hero. In my opinion piece, I also unpack why some big-name AI ads felt creepy, vague, or hollow, and why “not being weird” isn’t the same as building trust. I would love to know, which AI ad(s) worked for you, and which ones missed the moment? #AIethics #SuperBowl2026AIAds #HumanCenteredAI #ResponsibleAI #TechAndHumanity #SusanSly #ThoughtLeadership

AI sovereignty is both a policy issue and a leadership issue. The UAE recently launched K2 Think, a sovereign AI model designed to retain control over data, governance, and ethical standards. It signals a broader shift: AI is now being treated as strategic infrastructure. For enterprise leaders, the implications are immediate. McKinsey reports that 88% of organizations use AI, yet only 23% have scaled it effectively. Gallup data shows leaders are adopting AI faster than their teams, widening gaps in trust, readiness, and governance. AI sovereignty forces critical questions: Who controls your data? Who governs your AI systems? Whose values shape decision-making? In my latest blog, “AI Sovereignty - From Governments to Boardrooms, I explore how the C-Suite is looking at AI Sovereignty and the necessity of shifting how enterprise looks at artificial intelligence. #AISovereignty #AILeadership #CLevel #AIEthics #ExecutiveLeadership #SusanSly #WomenInAI

Menopause is the only inevitable health condition every woman will face. The symptoms vary, and in our research, no two women share the same journey. At The Pause Technologies Inc. we encourage employers to treat their high performing women in perimenopause and menopause with respect and dignity. These women have sacrificed so much for their careers and it is essential to provide the education, tools, and frameworks for support. Mia Chorney, who is board certified in menopause, cardiology, and genomics, does workplace perimenopause and menopause roundtables and workshops to help employers better support their most valuable asset - their teams. Women globally are standing up and saying ‘no more!’ Employers must start paying attention and providing training, support, and flexibility. Mia Chorney and I are getting numerous requests to come host employer roundtable sessions. This is an ‘all of us’ issue and not just a ‘some of us’ issue. In the US, according to the CDC, menopausal women have the highest suicide rate of all females. We are on a mission to transform how women are supported.
