It was shown exclusively to over 1,000 leading Saudi and international investors and the Kingdom’s top regulators at the Private Capital Forum in Riyadh. The film captures the next chapter of Saudi Arabia’s entrepreneurial journey: a nation scaling globally, powered by bold founders, ambitious investors, and transformative capital. What’s it like being a woman in Saudi?” Here’s the answer — visually. This was this week at 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐲 while filming content for our new series. Professional, modern, and very much aligned with how daily life here actually feels. There are so many misconceptions about women’s experiences in the Kingdom. It’s time to tell the real story. #SaudiArabia #ModernSaudi #LaysenValley #RiyadhLife #SaudiLifestyle #FilmingInSaudi #SaudiStories #RealSaudi #SaudiCulture #WomenEmpowerment #MiddleEastLife #SaudiVision #DiscoverSaudi #ContentCreatorLife #ExpatsInSaudi #SaudiWomen

Day 1 of Money20/20 Middle East. Energy is high. Everyone who's everyone in the sector is here. After focusing on the fintech industry for my documentary "Fintech Arabia: The Future of Finance in the Kingdom" for the last months, it's exciting to see everything coming together, including the film launch via Tahaluf's channels. The nation is pushing forward fintech to make Saudi Arabia a leader in this field, and events like Money 20/20 are a palpable example of everyone working under the same team. Riyadh has become my second home, and with so many people asking what life here is really like, we’re launching a new social media series to demystify it — from the practical to the cultural. After two years of working, filming, and building a media company in the Kingdom, I’ve seen firsthand how fast things are changing. It’s time to tell that story for the international community too. #LifeInRiyadh #ExpatLife #SaudiCulture #CrossCulturalCommunication #InternationalCommunity #RiyadhDiaries #InsideSaudi

Great to be at the UK-Saudi Investment & Partnership Summit today hosted by Saudi British Joint Business Council (SBJBC). With so many people from the Saudi ecosystem in London for the UK-Saudi Investment & Partnership Summit, there’s a real sense of momentum as important conversations around private markets, infrastructure, and tech are happening in real time. Living between London and Riyadh, this kind of gathering brings both my worlds (and homes!) into the same room. Here I am alongside two well respected colleagues and friends Fouad Alnazawi and Tariq Rezaei. #UKSaudiSummit #Investment #PrivateMarkets #CrossBorderWork #Saudi2030 #LondonToRiyadh #SBJBC #Investment #Partnership #SaudiArabia #UnitedKingdom #FDI #Trade #Vision2030 #GlobalBusiness #Leadership

Happy National Saudi Day! 🇸🇦 Diriyah is one of Saudi Arabia’s national treasures — a place that connects history, culture, and vision for the future. Every time I visit, I’m reminded how special it is, and I always enjoy bringing friends from the UK here when they visit. It shows a side of Saudi that many don’t expect: history preserved with care, yet positioned as part of a modern future. The top photos are when I brought my colleague, Lola Ortiz, here for the first time. They are a reminder of why this place matters, not only to Saudis but to anyone interested in where the region is heading. #SaudiDay #Diriyah #SaudiVision2030 #CulturalHeritage #saudi2030

Saudi Arabia is in the middle of a fintech boom. Regulatory reforms, bold capital, and a new wave of founders are building one of the fastest-growing financial innovation hubs in the world. My latest documentary, Fintech Arabia, captures this transformation through 45+ conversations with the people shaping it—founders, policymakers, and investors driving the sector forward. 👉 Watch the documentary on Money2020 YouTube Channel here https://lnkd.in/gWdqrtfs The ambition is clear, and the pace is set. I recently asked Islam Zween, CEO of Argaam Investments, a simple but important question: How do you really build trust in Saudi Arabia? His answer was refreshingly clear: • Be honest • Build real friendships • Invest in genuine relationships • Help people understand why you’re here, what you can contribute, and how you can add value In Saudi Arabia, trust isn’t transactional. It’s relational. Long-term. Human. Before ideas, before deals, before pitches — people want to know you. Once trust is there, everything else becomes possible. This is a critical lesson for expats, founders, and investors looking to build in the Kingdom.

I’m an expat woman living and building a business in Saudi Arabia. Like anywhere else, building a business here comes with challenges. But being a woman hasn’t been one of them. If anything, it’s been a positive. Saudi Arabia is opening up rapidly, and there is visible, practical support for women who want to build, lead, and create. The ecosystem is increasingly encouraging — especially for women entrepreneurs and professionals. This is simply my personal experience as a non-Saudi woman working in the Kingdom, and it’s very different from the assumptions I often hear. For anyone considering working or building in Saudi Arabia, it’s worth looking beyond the headlines and listening to lived experiences

The rise of reverse mentoring shows that experience alone isn’t enough. Leaders at companies like BA are now turning to junior colleagues for input — not just to stay informed, but to stay relevant. It’s a shift from authority to awareness. In fast-changing environments, insight doesn’t always flow top-down. Sometimes the clearest view comes from those closest to new behaviours, technologies, and expectations. The best leaders know to ask the right questions. This also applies to cross-industry learning, where we rely on others to help us gain insights that transcend boundaries i.e. me interviewing the former Minister of Technology in the UK Saqib Bhatti MBE. #Leadership #ReverseMentoring #FutureOfWork #OrganisationalDesign #CareerFear #WomenWhoBuild

Great to be moderating a panel on Human Capital in the AI Era alongside Ghalib Alshammri, Ph.D. of King Saud University, Rakan Al-Sharekh of Al Rajhi Capital, Dana Day of the CFA Institute and Adam Portlock of Hult Ashridge Executive Education at the Financial Academy Forum from The Financial Academy. This is one of the most timely conversations in business today: the evolving role of HR leadership in an AI-driven world. We discussed how HR chiefs can leverage AI to: - Align human capital strategy with institutional growth and regulation - Build agile, data-based HR systems that enhance competitiveness and sustainability - Use AI and succession planning to strengthen talent acquisition, performance, and leadership retention I explored these themes in my book Career Fear (and How to Beat It), particularly how technology is reshaping the future of work and what it means for both organisations and individuals. The takeaway? AI is no longer a tool for efficiency; it’s a strategic partner in defining culture, leadership, and long-term growth. #FutureOfWork #AI #Leadership #HRTech #CareerFear #speakingengagement #financialacademyforum #financialacademy #innovatetoenable

Forcing people back into the office as a default policy is short-term thinking. Do I blame the companies with long-term leases that need their offices full? No. I understand why they want their employees back in. I also agree with the power of IRL. As humans, we crave human connection. Nothing beats an in-person meeting, no matter the industry you are in. But, in Career Fear, I wrote that the future of work belongs to those who can operate in ambiguity — the same applies to leadership. If companies can’t adapt to how people work best, they’ll lose talent, slowly or suddenly. The Times reported that 80,000 Scots have quit jobs because of in-office mandates. People don’t leave jobs for nothing — they leave environments that ignore context. Flexibility isn't about convenience. It’s about trust, output, and accountability. Rigid mandates signal a lack of all three. We can't pretend to go back to a pre-COVID world. Hybrid is the way forward. #CareerFear #FutureOfWork #Leadership #RemoteWork #WorkCulture #Flexibility #EmployeeRetention #CareerMoment

My cats won’t go outside anymore. The first time I took them to the downstairs garden, one of them slipped out of their leash and bolted into the bushes. It was stressful — for both of us — and now they associate “outside” with danger. It reminded me of how we often approach new technology or significant shifts at work. One bad first experience can stop people from trying again, even when the long-term benefits are clear. In Career Fear, I write about how adaptability isn’t just about trying new things — it’s about being willing to try again, even when the first attempt is messy. Agility comes from building the systems and mindset to reduce friction and recover from early setbacks. For my cats, it means slower steps, short trips to the hallway (not the garden yet!), and a different harness. For us, it’s the same principle: lower the stakes, learn the environment, and make the next attempt less risky. Here's a pic from that one time we made it outside! #CareerFear #Adaptability #Agility #FutureOfWork #ChangeManagement #HumanSkills #WomenWhoBuild

Innovation doesn’t start with technology — it starts with discomfort. It’s a response to pressure, constraint, or a gap that can’t be ignored. Environments that support innovation understand this. They don’t just offer tools — they create the space to think clearly, test ideas, and fail without penalty. How are you using your discomfort to create better solutions for yourself and your business? I asked ChatGPT to create an image of me rock climbing. Not an especially accurate version of me… but close enough to pass at a glance, I guess?! It’s a small example of a much bigger point: we’re getting used to technology creating something on demand—instantly. Whether it’s an image, text, code, or video, the expectation is shifting from can it be done? to why isn’t it done yet? That expectation is going to shape how we work, what we consume, and even how we think about creativity. The tech doesn’t have to be perfect to have impact—it just has to be fast, good enough, and available right now. The real question is: are we shaping these tools, or are they already shaping us? #AI #Technology #GenerativeAI #Innovation #FutureOfWork #techphilosophy #chatgpt #openai

Saudi Arabia’s fintech story is about transformation. In less than a decade, the Kingdom has moved from ambition to execution, creating one of the world’s most dynamic financial ecosystems. Clear regulation, visionary leadership, and a generation of founders are reshaping how capital, innovation, and trust converge. From open banking and digital-first institutions to bold investors backing local founders, the foundations are in place for Saudi Arabia to become a global fintech hub. What happens next will depend on those willing to build, back, and believe. My documentary Fintech Arabia: the Future of Finance in the Kingdom is available on YouTube [Direct link in the comments!]. Richard Lewis’ model breaks cultures into three broad categories: 🔹 Linear-active – task-oriented, direct planners (e.g. UK, Germany) 🔹 Multi-active – relationship-driven, flexible, talk before task (e.g. Saudi, Latin cultures) 🔹 Reactive – respectful listeners, indirect, consensus-focused (e.g. East Asia) Working between London and Riyadh, I see this contrast daily. In the UK, efficiency often means structure, agendas, and execution speed. In Saudi Arabia, progress often starts with trust, patience, and aligning values before moving to specifics. Neither approach is better or worse, but misunderstanding the difference creates friction. What gets results is recognising the context and adapting accordingly. For founders and leaders, agility across cultures is no longer optional. It’s a core business skill. #Leadership #CrossCulturalBusiness #TransitionArchitecture #FutureOfWork #UKSaudi #WomenWhoBuild #Communication

As someone who has spent years documenting innovation and change, I’m equally drawn to stories that preserve tradition, especially when that tradition still shapes global standards today. That's why I worked on a mini documentary on Savile Row — the historic street in London known globally for bespoke tailoring. Precision, heritage, and the passing down of knowledge over generations. Behind every storefront is a story of craftsmanship and discipline that spans hundreds of years. Preserving history is the foundation for continued innovation. I see it in how the UK maintains its buildings and how Saudi Arabia keeps its culture alive while moving forward at speed. #SavileRow #DocumentaryWork #Storytelling #Heritage #Craftsmanship #London #WomenWhoBuild #NarrativeStrategy #CreativeLeadership #BrandIdentity

I recently asked Anamaria Meshkurti, Associate Director at Red Sea Global, a question many expats ask: How do you actually find jobs in Saudi Arabia? Her answer was practical and grounded in reality: • Build your network intentionally • Attend the right industry events • Use recruitment platforms strategically • And most importantly, invest in real relationships In Saudi Arabia, opportunities often come through trust, visibility, and connection — not just applications and interviews. For professionals serious about building a career in the Kingdom, understanding this shift in approach can make all the difference.

“From Silicon Valley to Riyadh” watch the full documentary on Shahid, Riyadh air, Saudia Airlines. Saudi Arabia is going through a deep structural transformation — and women are playing a central role in shaping what comes next. In this video, Emon Shakoor إيمان عبد الشكور , Founder & CEO of Blossom, and Deema Alyahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, share perspectives on how increased participation by women is influencing entrepreneurship, the workforce, and society more broadly. What stands out is that this shift isn’t symbolic. It’s measurable, fast-moving, and tied directly to long-term economic and social outcomes. When women participate fully in the economy, the benefits extend well beyond growth — they influence innovation, culture, and how societies evolve. 👉 What do you think is the biggest long-term impact of women’s participation in the workforce? #WomenInBusiness #Leadership #FutureOfWork #SaudiArabia #SaudiVision2030 #EconomicGrow

A few themes I've returned to recently—and why they matter for founders and leaders: 1. Reframe risk: Startups and innovation require embracing ambiguity. You don’t avoid risk—you manage it, test assumptions fast, and recalibrate quickly. 2. Build transition infrastructure: Following my Transition Architecture framework, focus on processes and human skills—emotional intelligence, critical thinking, contextual creativity—that let teams move fast without breaking. 3. Learn from the market, not just data: Interviews, field work, case studies—they expose real friction and inform strategy. 4. Feedback loops beat long-term forecasts: Small-course corrections built on consistent data insights often outperform over-confident plans. In Career Fear, I position this as a mindset shift: resilience and adaptability are trainable, not innate traits. If you're building something new—launching, scaling, or shifting—you need tools, systems, and mindset. And you need them fast. Let me know if you want a sample framework for transition architecture or tools I’ve found effective for rapid adaptation. #Founders #TransitionArchitecture #CareerFear #FutureOfWork #Adaptability #StartupStrategy #Leadership #Frameworks

If you’re curious about working or investing in Saudi Arabia, one of the best things you can do is simply come and experience it. In this conversation with Anamaria Meshkurti, we talk about how much clearer everything becomes once you’re on the ground — from the pace of change, to the people, to how opportunities naturally start to appear. Visiting helps you connect the dots, build real relationships, and see where you might fit into the ecosystem. Many people are surprised by how welcoming, dynamic, and open the environment feels.

3 Questions to Pressure-Test Any Business Decision 1️⃣ What problem is this solving right now? If you can’t name the problem clearly, you’re likely solving the wrong one. 2️⃣ What changes if the context shifts? Plans that work only under perfect conditions aren’t plans — they’re gambles. 3️⃣ What’s the smallest version we can test? A smaller, faster trial will give you better feedback than a big, slow rollout. In Career Fear, I wrote about how resilience comes from adaptability, and adaptability comes from asking the right questions early. The goal isn’t to avoid mistakes — it’s to avoid expensive ones. Stepping away from work shouldn’t mean stepping back into chaos. I haven’t had a full holiday in five years. This is not to glorify overwork — it’s just the reality of building and running multiple businesses as a founder. For the first time this summer, I’m intentionally carving out a few hours at a time for proper downtime, even while travelling and working between London and Riyadh. To make that possible, I’ve had to be deliberate: clear small tasks, set priorities in advance, and ensure the right people are in place so momentum continues without me. This is personal, but for me, the goal isn’t a complete switch-off but making space to recharge without creating an overwhelming pile-up to return to. 4 Signs Your Strategy Can’t Keep Up With Change 1️⃣ Decisions rely on old assumptions If your inputs don’t reflect the current market reality, your outputs will be irrelevant. 2️⃣ Your team resists testing Innovation slows to a crawl when experiments feel like threats instead of opportunities. 3️⃣ Feedback loops are too long If it takes months to spot an error, you've already lost time and ground. 4️⃣ You’re attached to the original plan. The market doesn’t care how much effort went into it — if conditions shift, so should you. Agility isn’t just about reacting fast — it’s about designing systems that make speed and course correction part of everyday work. Which of these do you see most often in organisations today? p.s. photo from when we were filming at National Technology Development Program for LEAP. #Leadership #TransitionArchitecture hashtag #FounderLife #FutureOfWork #DecisionMaking #OrganisationalAgility #WomenWhoBuild

Hit the ground running! I said goodbye to a very cold home in London to head to the warmth of my other home. Riyadh, I'm back! London keeps me grounded in global markets, long institutional memory, and disciplined execution. Riyadh places me inside one of the fastest-moving economic transformations in the world, where ambition is matched by capital and speed. Moving between the two sharpens perspective. You see opportunity faster. You test assumptions more rigorously. You stop treating “local” and “global” as opposites because it's clear they’re increasingly the same conversation. For founders, investors, and operators building across borders, proximity matters. So does cultural literacy. Being present in both cities has made that difference tangible. Two homes. One mindset: build with range, act with precision.   #Riyadh #London #GlobalBusiness #CrossBorder  #Leadership #BuildingAcrossMarkets

KAFD | كافد has become one of my go-to areas in Riyadh — especially on busy days. Whether you’re in between meetings, meeting someone for a business lunch, or planning a sit-down dinner, there are plenty of options ranging from quick, casual bites to more refined restaurants. It’s a great example of how Riyadh is developing spaces that combine productivity, convenience, and lifestyle in one place. The Diplomatic Quarter has some of the nicest green spaces in Riyadh. This park genuinely feels cooler than many other parts of the city — the trees, greenery, and open space make a noticeable difference. It’s a peaceful area to walk, reset, and step away from the pace of the day. It’s also a good reminder of how thoughtful urban design and green spaces can improve quality of life in any city. If you’re spending time in Riyadh, it’s worth exploring these quieter corners. 👉 Do you have a favourite green or calm spot in the city? #Riyadh #DiplomaticQuarter #UrbanDesign #QualityOfLife #LifeInSaudi #GreenSpace

One thing I really enjoy about Riyadh is how much the city has developed spaces that feel both modern and community-driven. JAX District is a great example — a creative area that blends art, culture, events, and a strong atmosphere, especially in the evenings. It’s one of those places where you can connect with people naturally and experience a different side of the city. And if you’re continuing your night after JAX, Beast House is a fun spot to keep the evening going. It’s exciting to see how Riyadh continues to evolve culturally and socially alongside everything else that’s being built.

“From Silicon Valley to Riyadh” Watch the full documentary on Shahid, Riyadh air, Saudia airlines. In this conversation with Sultan Moraished , we discuss the Red Sea Destination and what makes it fundamentally different. When a destination is designed from the ground up with sustainability at its core, it creates a rare opportunity: the freedom to innovate without legacy constraints. That “blank canvas” approach opens space for entrepreneurs and investors to help shape an entirely new tourism economy — one aligned with long-term value, technology, and environmental responsibility. This is more than a tourism project. It’s a platform for building what comes next. 👉 If you were to participate in this ecosystem, where would you add value?technology, operations, sustainability, or guest experience?

“From Silicon Valley to Riyadh” watch the full documentary on Shahid, Riyadh air, Saudia airlines. In this video, Prince سلطان بن فهد بن سلمان آل سعود Sultan Fahd Salman Al Saud (Executive Chairman, Eirad Holding Group) and Bandr Alhomaly, CFA (CEO, Jada) share perspectives on why Saudi Arabia continues to stand out as an environment full of investment opportunity. What stood out to me most is the momentum. Saudi isn’t just planning — it’s executing, building at scale, and creating real space for ambitious projects to grow. That combination of opportunity + delivery is exactly why I chose Saudi Arabia for my next chapter. 👉 What sector in Saudi Arabia do you believe has the biggest potential right now?

Relocating to Riyadh can feel like a big step, and housing is often the first major decision people stress about. In this conversation with Anamaria Meshkurti , we talk about how that decision evolves over time. Many newcomers initially choose what feels most familiar or comfortable, then adjust once they understand how the city works and what suits their routine best. What’s worth remembering is that your first choice doesn’t need to be permanent. Whether you prefer more privacy, more community, convenience, amenities, or flexibility — Riyadh offers multiple living options, and most people refine their preferences after a few months on the ground. If you’re planning a move to Saudi Arabia, this is a useful perspective to keep in mind. Somi Arian

I asked Islam Zween , CEO of Argaam, a simple question: What is one thing nobody told you about the media business? His answer reflects something many industries are facing right now: the challenge isn’t lack of information — it’s the volume of it. In environments where speed is rewarded and opinions spread instantly, the real skill becomes staying focused, filtering distractions, and making decisions grounded in accuracy. Because in media, trust is the product — and once credibility is damaged, it’s difficult to rebuild.
