LinkedIn Voices: Jen (Jennifer) Kem

Standing out in a crowded market is not always about creating more content. For Jen Kem, lasting authority comes from turning experience into ideas that can be developed, published, and built into a recognizable body of work. As a bestselling author, entrepreneur, brand strategist, and founder of the Master Brand Institute, she helps leaders and experts shape their ideas into books, brands, and businesses with a clear point of view.

Who is Jen Kem?

Jen Kem is an award-winning brand strategist, go-to-market consultant, author, and investor with more than two decades of experience across corporate sales, executive leadership, and entrepreneurship. Her work focuses on helping thought leaders, speakers, and enterprise founders clarify their positioning, develop stronger teams, and turn their expertise into intellectual property that can support business growth.

Niche & Specialization

Jen works across several connected areas, including brand psychology, executive leadership, publishing, and go-to-market strategy. Her primary specializations include:

The Master Brand Method & T.I.M.E. Model: Using proprietary diagnostics and brand psychology frameworks to help organizations clarify their vision, positioning, and customer experience.

Values-Driven Leadership & Team Architecture: Helping leaders build high-performing teams, which she refers to as Unicorn Teams, around shared organizational values such as autonomy, justice, generosity, and legacy.

Book Publishing & IP Codification: Guiding experts through the publishing process and helping them use a book as a foundation for keynotes, consulting services, educational programs, and other forms of intellectual property.

Go-to-Market Campaigns & Sales Conversion: Developing organic and paid acquisition strategies for expert-led businesses and service-based platforms.

A recurring theme in Jen's work is the difference between visibility and authority. Rather than relying only on frequent social media content, she encourages experts to develop ideas that can stand on their own through books, original frameworks, and long-form work. This creates a deeper foundation for credibility and professional recognition.

Aspiring Authors & Thought Leaders: Professionals looking to organize their experience and expertise into a published book and a recognizable personal brand.

Founders & Corporate Executives: Leaders working to connect company culture, organizational values, and team performance.

Consultants & Service-Based Experts: Experts developing educational programs, advisory offerings, and scalable intellectual property.

Career Journey & Achievements

Jen began her corporate career in telecommunications and technology, eventually becoming Head of Business Markets at Hawaiian Telcom, a Verizon Wireless company. In 2011, she moved into full-time entrepreneurship by founding KemComm Media Group, a boutique consulting firm that was later acquired to form Master Brand, Inc.

She also served as Chief Brand Officer at Motivating the Masses, Inc., where she helped drive a tenfold increase in online and event revenue. Today, she leads the Master Brand Institute and manages HerQ Ventures, an investment firm supporting women-led startups across areas including SaaS, healthcare, and digital media. Her client experience includes brands such as the Oprah Winfrey Network and Steve Harvey, as well as major enterprises including Verizon, Oracle, Microsoft, and Bank of Hawaii.

Jen is also the author of UNICORN TEAM, a national bestselling book published through Penguin/Hay House. The book provides leaders with a practical framework for building teams that can align around important ideas and execute them effectively.

Content Strategy & Teaching Approach

Jen uses LinkedIn alongside long-form writing, newsletters such as The Missing Manuscript on Substack, and educational videos on YouTube. Her content often draws from real experiences, including corporate leadership, the challenges of publishing, business growth, and the lessons she has learned through major launches.

Her teaching style combines business strategy with personal experience. Growing up in a rural community on O'ahu, Hawai'i, has influenced the way she approaches leadership and professional identity. Rather than presenting leadership as a purely strategic discipline, she often connects it with personal values, individual perspective, and the responsibility to lead with integrity.
