“Grow your people, grow your business” used to be Impraise’s tagline and a belief held by many in leadership and HR positions. However, at that time, we lacked research-backed evidence. 👇 📚 Last year, Dr Jan-Emmanuel De Neve published a paper named “Workplace Wellbeing and Firm Performance” in which he researched the relationship between Happiness, Purpose, Satisfaction, and (lack of) Stress against Company Performance Indicators. [🔗 Link to the Paper in the comment section] The findings speak for themselves: “Company wellbeing proves to be a significant predictor of firm performance across a wide variety of indicators. We find that higher levels of wellbeing generally predict higher firm valuations, higher return on assets, higher gross profits, and better stock market performance.” 📈 The paper's insights show the massive impact that solutions like BetterUp can have on individuals and the broader economy! In September, I celebrated my third anniversary at BetterUp(!), prompting for some inner work and self-reflection. These past three years have been transformative, both personally and professionally, thanks to the support of my incredible team and my BetterUp coaches. It felt very special to realise that I spent over 1½ days reflecting with my coaches, wow! The three areas where I’ve grown the most are Emotional Regulation, Problem-Solving, and Goal Attainment. These improvements have equipped me to better support my team do what it does best - build impactful product experiences! 🚀 Last month, I also had the privilege of attending BetterUp Gather in Amsterdam, a two-day event with 70+ of our amazing coaches. It was an opportunity to exchange ideas, demo our new AI-driven product experiences, and gather valuable feedback. This was another occasion to see first hand the positive impact that our coaches & product deliver at scale. 🌍 While I can not predict what will the next 3 years bring to me at BetterUp, I’m confident these will be supercharged with more learnings and growth! 🌱 🔊 Speaking of growth, our Engineering team is expanding globally, and I am currently hiring senior full-stack engineers to join our team in Amsterdam. Today is World Mental Health Day 🌎 💡New BetterUp research, of nearly 175,000 BetterUp members, shows that overall well-being and specific indicators of well-being such as burnout, social connection, and life satisfaction have taken a big hit globally and have yet to recover to 2019 levels. Among various factors, we found that work-related factors predict over 40% of the fluctuations in life satisfaction – with job satisfaction landing in the number one spot. 💡 We spend ⅓ of our lives at work, we all have a responsibility to create a workplace that supports our well-being 💗 Take a moment to reflect on your own journey over the past few years. 👉 What can you do today, to lift your own well being? 🫶 What can you do at work, to support colleagues who may be languishing?
