I’m cancelling my ChatGPT subscription. OpenAI’s leadership chose to align with an authoritarian political project even though refusal was clearly possible. Another AI company drew a line. OpenAI crossed it. AI plus authoritarianism is a threat — not a partnership. I won’t fund complicity.

In light of the actions end events after the presidential elections in the United States in November 2024, businesses around the world might find it necessary to adjust their approach to their own business relationships to people and organizations in the United States. Beside the hostile and adversarial behaviour of the U.S.-government towards trade relations with what once were allies, there is another layer to this: the abandonment of truth. More than 50% of the American people voted for Trump. Many of them likely in decision-making positions relevant for your business relationship. Do they know about Trump creating not only alternative facts, but in sum creating an entire alternative universe? Do they simply look away? And if so, what does that say about the people you are dealing with? Or do they even approve? Do they too have a mindset to accept as reality only what they want the reality to be? Imagine the following conversation with a business partner in the U.S. (I know, it's hyperbolic, but I hope, it still illustrates my point): You: According to scientific studies, the usage of material xyz in your products causes the life expectancy to decrease. We ask you to replace it. U.S. business partner: Those scientists are all brainwashed by biased professors and left-leaning billionaires like George Soros. What are your thoughts? Did you make experiences like this?

Statement from retired federal appeals court Judge J. Michael Luttig, a prominent conservative legal scholar, on the state of American democracy and the presidential election 2024 (excerpt): "America’s two political parties are the political guardians of American Democracy. Regrettably, in the presidential election of 2024 there is only one political party and one candidate for the presidency that can claim the mantle of defender and protector of America’s Democracy, the Constitution, and the Rule of Law. As a result, I will unhesitatingly vote for the Democratic Party’s candidate for the Presidency of the United States, Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris. In voting for Vice President Harris, I assume that her public policy views are vastly different from my own, but I am indifferent in this election as to her policy views on any issues other than America’s Democracy, the Constitution, and the Rule of Law, as I believe all Americans should be. In the 2024 election for President of the United States, there are no more important issues for America." See full statement here:
