Taplio vs AuthoredUp (2026): Features, Pricing and the Better Pick
AuthoredUp is the cheaper editor and analytics tool for people who write their own LinkedIn posts; Taplio is the AI growth suite. Full 2026 comparison and verdict.
Taplio vs AuthoredUp comes down to how much help you want. AuthoredUp is a low-cost editor, previewer and analytics tool for people who write their own LinkedIn posts, from $16.63 a month billed yearly. Taplio is an all-in-one growth suite with AI writing, carousels, engagement feeds and lead tools, from $32 a month billed yearly, but AI writing starts on its $49 Growth plan.
We compared both on their own pricing pages, help centers and public review listings in October 2026, covering features, pricing, ease of use, LinkedIn compliance, reviews and support. At the end you will find a short section on a third option and clear scenarios for picking one.

The verdict
- Pick AuthoredUp if you already write your posts and want them to look right, publish on time and be measured properly, for about $200 a year.
- Pick Taplio if you want the tool to help with ideas, drafts, carousels and engagement, and you are comfortable paying $49 to $149 a month on yearly billing.
- Be careful with Taplio Pro if your LinkedIn account matters to your income: its automated DMs and connection requests sit uneasily with LinkedIn's rules on automation, which we cover below.

Features compared
AI writing
Taplio's AI is its headline feature, but only on paid tiers above Starter. The Taplio pricing page lists Growth with "Write viral posts with AI" and Pro with 10x more AI usage than Growth, plus Ask Taplio, a built-in assistant, and an MCP integration that lets you control Taplio from Claude or ChatGPT. Starter covers scheduling and analytics without AI writing.
AuthoredUp is primarily a writing environment. Its AI, called Coauthor, is listed as "AI writing in your voice" and marked beta on the AuthoredUp pricing page. The core of the product is the editor: readability grade and length insights, bold, italic and list styles, a library of 200+ hooks and 150+ post endings, and unlimited snippets and drafts.
Carousels and visuals
Taplio includes an AI carousel generator and AI images on Growth and Pro. AuthoredUp has no carousel builder; you attach images, video, documents, polls or events that you made elsewhere. If carousels are a big part of your content, Taplio, or a dedicated carousel tool, is the better fit.
Scheduling
Both schedule posts, but in different ways. Taplio has its own calendar, posting goals and queue on every plan. AuthoredUp's help center says plainly that it does not have its own scheduling system: it exposes LinkedIn's built-in scheduler inside its editor, so scheduled posts sit on LinkedIn itself. That brings LinkedIn's limits with it, including a 30 minute minimum lead time and some attachment types that cannot be scheduled. The upside is that nothing third-party has to publish on your behalf. For a wider look at options, see our best LinkedIn scheduling tools.
Analytics
AuthoredUp's analytics are the deeper of the two for content writers: a performance dashboard, profile growth timeline, period-over-period snapshot, breakdowns by post type, day, length and readability, side-by-side post comparison, saves, sends, reach and profile views, a full historical import of your LinkedIn archive, CSV export and an analytics API. Taplio includes advanced analytics and shareable results on every plan, plus a monthly LinkedIn Benchmark built from more than 60,000 posts.
Engagement, CRM and lead tools
This is where the two products split. Taplio offers curated engagement feeds, AI smart replies, auto-replies to comments on your own posts, lists of likers and commenters, a lead finder, and on Pro, automated DMs and automated connection requests. There is no full CRM, but the contact lists play that role. AuthoredUp has none of this. It is a content tool only.
Chrome extension
AuthoredUp is built around its extension, which lets you write, format, preview and analyse inside LinkedIn. Taplio now runs two extensions: its help center says the old Taplio X extension has been deprecated and replaced by Taplio Boost, an optional add-on for stats and saving posts, while a separate extension called Taplio Connect is required to connect your LinkedIn account. Our guide to the best LinkedIn Chrome extensions compares both with alternatives.
Pricing compared
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taplio Starter | $39/month | $32/month ($384/year) | Scheduling, analytics, 5M+ post library, no AI writing |
| Taplio Growth | $69/month | $49/month ($588/year) | AI writing and carousels, 500 comments a month, team collaboration |
| Taplio Pro | $199/month | $149/month ($1,788/year) | 10x AI usage, unlimited comments, lead outreach automation |
| AuthoredUp Individual | $19.95/month | $16.63/month ($199.50/year) | Full editor, extension, analytics, Coauthor beta |
| AuthoredUp Business | $14.95 per profile/month | $12.46 per profile/month ($149.50/year each) | Everything in Individual plus team analytics and calendar, minimum 3 profiles |
| AuthoredUp Custom Growth | Contact sales | Annual only | Onboarding and training, minimum 10 profiles |
Prices from the Taplio and AuthoredUp pricing pages, checked October 2026. On the cheapest like-for-like plans that include AI writing, a year of Taplio Growth costs $588 against $199.50 for AuthoredUp Individual. Taplio's 7-day trial gives you Pro features with limited AI and switches to your chosen plan after seven days or as soon as you hit the AI limit. AuthoredUp's trial starts when you register and confirm your email, without a card.
What a year actually costs
Monthly prices hide the real difference, so here is the yearly bill for common setups using each vendor's yearly billing.
| Setup | Taplio | AuthoredUp |
|---|---|---|
| One person, scheduling and analytics only | Starter: $384 | Individual: $199.50 |
| One person who wants AI drafts and carousels | Growth: $588 | Individual with Coauthor beta: $199.50 (no carousel maker) |
| One person running lead outreach | Pro: $1,788 | Not offered |
| Three team profiles | Multi-seat discount of up to 30%, quoted by Taplio | Business: 3 x $149.50 = $448.50 |
If you only need a better composer and real analytics, AuthoredUp saves you about $185 a year against Taplio Starter, and more against Growth. Taplio only becomes the better value when you will actually use its AI, carousel and engagement features every week.
Teams and agencies
Both tools support teams, with different pricing logic. Taplio's team offer adds multiple account management, shared analytics across accounts and admin, content writer and client roles, with a multi-seat discount of up to 30 percent. AuthoredUp's Business plan charges per connected LinkedIn profile, not per user: you can invite unlimited members, and managers who only analyse data and ghostwriters do not count as paid profiles. It adds team analytics, a team content calendar, sub-accounts and Admin, Manager and Member roles, and company pages are free on every plan.
For an agency ghostwriting for several executives, AuthoredUp's model is cheaper and simpler. For a team that wants one shared AI workflow and engagement feed across accounts, Taplio does more.
Language support
AuthoredUp's Chrome Web Store listing says its hook and ending templates come in English, German and Dutch. Neither vendor highlights Arabic support on its pricing page, so if you write in Arabic, test right-to-left previews and AI output during the free trial before paying.
Ease of use
AuthoredUp has the gentler learning curve because it does fewer things and does them inside LinkedIn, where you already are. You open the composer, write, preview on desktop and mobile, and post or schedule. Taplio is a full web app with many sections: create, schedule, inspiration, analytics, engagement, contacts and automation. That breadth is useful once you settle in, so plan an hour or two to set up your feeds, lists and posting schedule before judging it.
Safety and LinkedIn compliance
LinkedIn's help center says it does not permit third-party software or browser extensions that scrape, modify the appearance of, or automate activity on its website, and that members using them risk having their accounts restricted or shut down. You can read the policy in LinkedIn's prohibited software and extensions article.
- Taplio: its Pro plan lists automated DMs, automated connection requests and bulk lead outreach. Taplio's own FAQ says it is safe because it behaves like a real LinkedIn user. Those two statements are hard to square, and one Trustpilot reviewer reported their LinkedIn account being flagged for activity limits. The writing, scheduling and analytics features on lower plans carry far less risk than the outreach automation.
- AuthoredUp: markets itself with "No automation. No cookies." on its pricing page. Its extension does change how the LinkedIn composer looks, which the policy technically covers, but it does not act on your behalf, and its scheduling uses LinkedIn's own scheduler.
Our honest read: for a personal brand you depend on, use writing and analytics tools freely, and keep outreach manual or within LinkedIn's own products. If you want to grow through engagement, spend the time commenting yourself.
Reviews and ratings
- Taplio on G2: 4.1 out of 5 from 9 reviews when we checked in October 2026, a small sample.
- Taplio on Trustpilot: a TrustScore of 3.6 from 20 reviews, split between happy users and complaints, mostly about renewals, cancellations and refunds.
- AuthoredUp on the Chrome Web Store: 4.7 out of 5 from 70 ratings, with about 30,000 users and a version updated on October 23, 2026.
- AuthoredUp on Trustpilot: one review, too few to mean anything. We could not find an active AuthoredUp review listing on G2.
We could not load a current Chrome Web Store rating for Taplio's new extensions, so we have not quoted one. Read recent reviews on each listing before you buy, and pay attention to billing complaints in particular, since those are easy to avoid with a calendar reminder before renewal.
Support
Taplio offers a help center, email support and, on Pro, priority support and access. AuthoredUp offers a help center, video tutorials and, on its Custom Growth plan, personalised onboarding and dedicated training. Both let you cancel from account settings: Taplio under Settings and the Billing tab, AuthoredUp from your account settings, with service running to the end of the billing period. Because most negative Taplio reviews on Trustpilot concern renewals, note your renewal date when you subscribe and cancel a few days early if you are not sure you will continue. Set that reminder on yearly plans too, where a renewal is a much larger charge.

| Teams and agencies | Tie | Taplio for shared AI workflows, AuthoredUp for cheap multi-profile analytics |
A third option: exeedin
If you want AI help writing in your own voice without Taplio's outreach automation, exeedin sits between the two. It builds a voice profile from your real LinkedIn posts, writes drafts you approve in English or Arabic, designs carousels, suggests creators to engage with, and publishes through LinkedIn's official API rather than a browser session. Creator costs $49 a month or $39 a month billed yearly, Business is $59 per seat per month, and there is a 3-day free trial. We compare it head to head in exeedin vs Taplio and exeedin vs AuthoredUp.
Which should you pick?
- You write your own posts and want them polished and measured: AuthoredUp Individual.
- You manage several company Pages or a small team's profiles on a budget: AuthoredUp Business, since company pages are free on every plan.
- You want help with ideas, drafts and carousels and you post often: Taplio Growth.
- You run outbound from LinkedIn and accept the account risk: Taplio Pro, keeping volumes conservative and reading LinkedIn's rules on automation first.
- You want AI drafting in your own voice, Arabic support or official-API publishing: look at the third option above.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is AuthoredUp better than Taplio?
AuthoredUp is better if you write your own posts and mainly need formatting, previews, native scheduling and detailed analytics, at about $200 a year. Taplio is better if you want AI to draft posts and carousels and help with engagement and leads, starting at $49 a month billed yearly for AI writing. Neither is better for everyone.
Does Taplio have a free plan?
Taplio has no permanent free plan, but it offers a 7-day free trial with Pro features and limited AI usage. Its Taplio Boost Chrome extension is free and works without a plan, showing basic stats and top posts. Paid plans start at $39 a month, or $32 a month billed yearly, as of October 2026.
Is AuthoredUp safe for my LinkedIn account?
AuthoredUp says it uses no automation and no cookies, and its scheduling relies on LinkedIn's own built-in scheduler, so it does not act on your account by itself. LinkedIn's rules do cover extensions that change how its site looks, but writing and preview tools that never post or message for you carry little practical risk.
Can Taplio get my LinkedIn account restricted?
The risk comes mainly from Taplio Pro's automated DMs, connection requests and bulk outreach. LinkedIn's help center says tools that automate activity on its site violate the User Agreement and can lead to restrictions. Taplio's writing, scheduling and analytics features are far less risky than its outreach automation.
Can I use Taplio and AuthoredUp together?
You can, and some creators do: AuthoredUp for writing, previews and analytics inside LinkedIn, and Taplio for inspiration and engagement feeds. The overlap is large, though, since both schedule posts and both report analytics. Paying for both rarely makes sense for one person; pick the one that covers the work you do every week.
Which is cheaper, Taplio or AuthoredUp?
AuthoredUp is cheaper. Its Individual plan costs $19.95 a month or $199.50 a year, and its Business plan is $12.46 per profile per month on yearly billing. Taplio starts at $39 a month, or $32 billed yearly, and its AI writing plan, Growth, costs $49 a month billed yearly. Prices checked October 2026.
